Description
This Natural Park is characterised by its marshy meadow in a state of siltation, forming one of the largest wetlands in the Region of Valencia. It is a coastal plain separated from the Mediterranean Sea by a strip of land, where you can see small lagoons of free water. It is a land of great ecological and scenic interest, notably the beauty of its marshlands.
It is a fantastic place for bird watching as it possesses different types of ecosystems, which evolve starting at the coast all the way inland depending on the salinity of the soil. Halophytic vegetation grows in areas where dunes are present, adapted to a high concentration of salt in the soil, while Juniperus macrocarpa (large-fruited juniper) grows in soils with lower salinity. It is interesting to observe how the environment adapts according to the conditions of the environment.
For birdwatching lovers, species such as the Montagu's harrier, collared pratincole, marsh birds and a variety of waterfowl can be observed.
